Long Was The Week

With a tiring week behind me, only a one day weekend (when it should be 3 days for May Day...booooo), and a full show evening ahead of me, time is not on my side to complete the Homeward Bound posts this evening. I can, however, pimp the compilation which forms the basis for the show tonight. Namely, Dark Was The Night.

This is a double CD or LP with the proceeds benefiting the AIDS charity Red Hot, dedicated to raising awareness through music and finding a cure for that disease. Worthy stuff and if some excellent music comes along as an aside, then all the better. Above is a brilliant flash player that's put together from the main site and can be customised depending on your song preferences. The David Byrne/Dirty Projectors song that opens up the set is also below as an MP3, as it's great to start up upbeat playlists on your iPod. Load this up and use it to remind you to buy the full CD when you're out and about.

It goes without saying that this needs to be purchased. The contributors list reads like a who's who of current indie darlings and features some great collaborations between certain artists. Buy, listen, pick your faves, then return to post them up here. Some of the less known stuff is quite a pleasant surprise.

Live review to follow this week (and some catch up on the aforementioned posts :-/ ).
